Our region
We are located in the South of a France, a region rich in all kinds of heritage and tourist sites.
We are lucky enough to be located in a region in the South of France which is sheltered from the excesses of mass tourism, yet offers a great variety of activities and attractions.
On this page, we will give you a synopsis – which is far from complete – of some places to visit and things to do close to our campsite.
During your stay, we can provide you with a great many brochures for sites to visit or activities to enjoy, while responding to whatever you feel like doing on the day..
Less than 30 minutes from the campsite
The town of Anduze and its famous potteries are 10 minutes from the campsite.
Why not stroll over to this delightful medieval town for the Thursday morning, typical Cévennes market or the Tuesday evening nocturnal market ? There, you can also visit the Bambouseraie de Prafrance, take a ride on the little Cévennes steam train or venture down into the stunning Trabuc caves.
A little further towards the Cévennes, the town of Saint-Jean-du-Gard is the perfect starting point for setting off on a trek or a mountain bike ride through the forests. The town also boasts an aquarium, – a refreshing place to visit in summer !
To the south of the campsite lies the medieval town of Sommières, where you will find the fast-flowing river Vidourle. The town offers some fabulous visitor attractions, a rich heritage and a very popular Provençal market every Saturday morning.
For visitors looking to get active, you will find golf courses, tennis courts, adventure trails, canoeing, via ferrata, go-karting and rides as a passenger in a race car (at the Pôle Mécanique d’Alès), all within easy reach of our campsite. Thrill-seekers and fun-lovers will have plenty to choose from !
Less than an hour from the campsite
To the north is the department of Lozère with its typical mountain flora. This rural region offers a complete change of scenery for lovers of the great outdoors.
Also, discover the town of Alès and its mining past, which a tour of a mine.
Take the Corniche des Cévennes road by car or bike, to the villages of Sainte-Croix-Vallée-Française or Pompidou.
To the east, you will find the town of Uzès a little Medieval jewel, with its famous Provençal market and, a little further afield, the iconic Pont du Gard bridge.
To the south, a visit to Nìmes will take you back in time, with its incredibly well-preserved Roman ruins and its street festival.
Also to the south, you will find the Mediterranean, with the magnificent Espiguette beach (Grau du Roi) and the medieval town of Aigues Mortes (on the edge of the Camargue region), where you can visit the Salins du Midi salt marshes.
To the west is the iconic Pic Saint Loup mountain, whose hiking trails and vineyards are well known to enthusiasts.
Less than 2 hours from the campsite
A wide range of fauna and flora awaits in the Camargue region, which you can explore on the back of a Camargue horse. The region is only about an hour and a half’s drive away. It offers a stunning contrast with the nearby Cévennes !
The towns of Arles and Saintes Maries de la Mer are also easy to get to from our campsite.
Avignon, the papal city and home to the famous festival, and Montpellier, the region’s economic capital, are large, welcoming and dynamic cities with a strong historical heritage waiting to be discovered.
More or less everywhere, near the campsite…
We are at the heart of a wine-making region which is full of domains whose cellars welcome visitors and host tastings.
The olive tree is the king of the Gard region. Le Moulin de Villevieille, for example, less than 30 minutes’ drive from the campsite, welcomes visitors and hosts tastings in its local produce shop.
Summer is also the time for festivals in the surrounding villages: the bull runs in the streets (abrivados…) are especially impressive!
Not to forget the many Provençal markets and antiques markets, where you can sample the best local produce and find something to remember your visit by.
